Today saw the Alberta Team in their final training day in preparation for Canadian Championships.
First up to compete was Riley Zammit in the Novice 15+ DMT. With 2 strong routines Riley was unable to make it into the Finals round. But stay tuned for more of Riley tomorrow when he has to compete on Trampoline.
Connor Richardson was Tumbling today and showed great routines with awesome ending skills. He will advance to the Finals and is going into it sitting in 5th place. Tomorrow he will be showing Trampoline and DMT both which are his stronger events.
Rebecca Lennon was unfortunately injured during the training block earlier that day. She suffered a severe sprain to her left ankle and was withdrawn from the competition. X-rays were taken at the local hospital but the preliminary look said that there were no breaks or fractures. While she considers this a set back she was on hand to cheer her team mates on and enjoy the experience of Nationals. She will continue to cheer for the rest of the week and said she still is looking forward to visiting Wonderland... She asked if being in a wheelchair would get her to the front of all the lines and was excited about it... a silver lining to everything!!
Tomorrow will bring more event results and insight to this years Canadian National Championships!!

Another great day for the Airborne athletes at National Championships!!
Riley Zammit showed AWESOME routines on Trampoline and made the cut for finals tomorrow! He is 10th going into finals out of a pool of 25 athletes in the country in the Novice 15+ level.
Connor Richardson also had an amazing day with two 5th place finishes on Open Mens Trampoline and Open Mens DMT heading into finals and received a 4th place in the Novice 15+ Mens Tumbling.
Tomorrow will see both Connor and Riley competing in Trampoline finals and DMT finals for just Connor.

WOW!! Today saw the end of Airborne's part of National Championships. The athletes had fantastic success today with their Finals routines!!
First out of the gate was Riley Zammit on Trampoline. He went into Finals in 10th place but after showing a clean and well executed routine he moved up 2 spots to secure an 8th place finish. GREAT JOB RILEY!!!!
Connor Richardson had both DMT and Trampoline Finals today. DMT was first up. Connor had been spending a ton of his time on working his Preliminary routines leading up to Nationals to ensure a spot in the final competition. While this strategy was successful it left him doing routines that were a bit unpolished. Connor came through very well and finished 7th. Both of his Finals routines were a bit new and need more work but he finished them with great success! Trampoline was next up and Connor warmed up AWESOME!!! His routine was a bit shaky at first but finished well with a new end skill... Full out Tuck which he and his coach, Matt Wheele, had been working on leading into Nationals.
Tomorrow will see the Senior Finals with Olympic athletes like World Record DD Holder Jason Burnette, 3 time Olympic medalist Karen Cockburn, and Olympian Rosie MacLennan. Stay tuned for pictures and stories of the athletes days after the 2009 National Canadian Championships!!
